I went up to this isolated park north of Delaware to take part in an attempt to capture & band Soras by Rich Bradley & the staff.  The Sora-catching was unsuccessful, but apparently 1 was heard responding to the tape earlier.  The park does have 3-4 nice pocket wetlands, though, and looks to be a potentially good spot for waterbird migrants and rare residents.  While there I heard the cooing of a LEAST BITTERN, and also had a Green Heron, along with assorted resident Mallards & Wood Ducks.  The park staff & visitors have had a number of shorebirds come through in migration, most notably a Willet.

Shorebirds aren't the only draw, as the park has 2 nice woodlots (in a location where hardly any substantial woods exist), and a quick walk-through found Pewees, Acadian Flycatchers, Yellow-billed Cuckoos, Red-eyed Vireos, and Scarlet Tanagers, along with the more expected residents.  Several old fields and a prairie patch held lots of swallows and Field Sparrows, along with Willow Flycatcher, E.Kingbird, and Common Yellowthroats.  If combined with the nearby Delaware Wildlife Area, a morning could produce an imposing diversity of birds.
