Hello all,

At 6:05 AM this morning, 4 June, we had a dark ibis fly over the
Horseshoe Unit at Winous Point in Bay Township (Ottawa Co.). Despite it
passing at fairly close range, the poor lighting precluded any satisfactory
study of the face. Although, judging by the overall darkness of the face
and apparent lack of white feather edging, I'd lean Glossy; however, there
are *Plegadis* ibis hybrids out there, and we certainly couldn't rule out a
hybrid given our brief, unsatisfying look. The ibis continued off to the
north over the tree line toward SR 53.

On a side note, John Simpson observed a dark ibis (possible
White-faced) on the south side of Muddy Creek Bay in Sandusky County last
Thursday, 30 May. I followed up on that sighting Friday with no luck.

So, I thought I'd post as a heads up to keep your eyes peeled for *
Plegadis* ibis in NW Ohio this week.

Good birding,
Justin
