My wife and I found two fledging Barred Owls this evening at Blues Creek
Park in Ostrander, Ohio. They were on opposite sides of a gravel path
about 30 feet high. One was in a Locust tree just off the east side of the
path and the other was about 40 feet off the west edge of the path. We
watched them for about 30 minutes but couldn't find their original nest.
It was the highpoint of an already good evening in that we saw several
Yellow Warblers, juvenile Blue Birds and a Baltimore Oriole along with
scads of Tree Swallows.
