My route today included Island Road south .
It was not extremely birdy, but I did have
some good luck at the intersection of Capel Rd. and Island Rd.
I heard a Dickcissel call a number of times in the tall grass in a field
on the east side of Island Rd.
I stopped and heard the call a number of times. Then 2 birds flew out if
the grass and up to the
wires along the road. They were a male & female Dickcissel. After a
minute or so, they dove back into the tall grass.
I heard another Dickissel singing near the ditch, a 1/4 further south on
Island. Also heard near there were some Savannah Sparrows.
More Savannah Sparrows were heard at various locations throughout the
rest of the ride.
I also had a calling Purple Finch on Schady Rd. in Olmsted Twp.
See you on the trails,
Chris Pierce
