I spent a part of this morning biking much of the urban stretches of the Alum Creek Greenway in east Columbus, doing chunks around Mock Park, Jeffrey Park, and the stretch from Academy Park south to 3-Creeks. Lots of bikers & runners using the trail this morning; I can't imagine what it'll be like when all the segments are linked. Notable birds included:

Barred Owl - a juvenile was sitting unconcerned along the creek in Jeffrey Park
Acadian Flycatchers - several were along the new sections of the trail near Mock Park, as well as at Oxbow
Willow Flycatcher - 1 was still calling in the old Welch dump, south of Petzinger Rd
Great Crested Flycatchers - singles at many different spots; these cavity nesters seem to be doing OK here
Warbling Vireos - 3 were singing in the forested stretch near the Yassenoff Ponds south of Livingston Ave.
Wood Thrush - unusually scarce, with only a few calling along the southern portion of the trail (where many were last year)
Cedar Waxwings - pairs in many places here, especially around fruiting mulberries (which are having a great year)
Yellow Warblers - common, in many places along the trail.
Parula Warblers - common, at many places. An adult was feeding a fledgeling near Brittany Hills Park
Yellow-thr.Warbler - common, at many places (Mock, Brittany Hills, Jeffrey, Hanford Park, Oxbow)
Black&White Warbler - 1 was singing in a grape tangle south of Yassenoff Ponds (south of Livingston Ave)
Pine Warbler - a likely stray was foraging in pines at Jeffrey Park, a good place to look for strays here.
E.Towhee - rare here, but several were calling at both Oxbow & the Welch Dump, at the south part of the trail
Field Sparrow - rare here, one was still singing in the old Welch dump (south of Petzinger Rd)
Baltimore Orioles - singles at many locations along the trail, including several juveniles
