My wife Denise and Diane Baughman arrived at the sandspit, this morning, Wednesday, at 8:30AM. The rain had stopped, and the sun was trying to peak out. The welcoming committee was 8 Bald Eagles standing on the beach. A total of 25+ could be seen on the breakwalls and around the surrounding area. At 9:15AM, 2 beautiful American Avocets came gliding in, and are presently, 10AM, resting on the sandbar looking toward The Conneaut Lighthouse. Some of the other birds of interest are 3 Lesser Yellowlegs, 5 Least Sandpipers, 5 Bonaparte's Gulls, 50+ Bank Swallows and numerous Great Blue Herons. A presently unidentified, darkish, lone gull is being evaluated. Denise and Diane are sharing the sandspit with Craig Holt and two fisherman who just arrived. Nice and peaceful!
