Hi All,

This is just a quick hold-the-date reminder that on Saturday, October 19th, 2013 the Ohio Avian Research & Conservation Conference will be hosted at the Department of Biology at Denison University in Granville, Ohio.

This conference will bring together professional ornithologists from museums and other academic institutions, high school, undergraduate, and graduate students, government agencies, as well as non-professional researchers and citizen scientists alike from all over Ohio to present and share their research projects with one another and with other interested individuals through oral and poster presentations. The focus of this conference is to highlight Ornithological research by Ohioans within the state and abroad.

The keynote speaker for this conference is Dr. Edward H. Burtt, Jr., the Cincinnati Conference Professor of Zoology at Ohio Wesleyan University, the 2011 Ohio Professor of the Year by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, former President of the Wilson Ornithological Society and the American Ornithologist Union, and co-author of the recently released book titled "Alexander Wilson: The Scot Who Founded American Ornithology."

After the conference there will be a reception in the upper floor of Denison's Slayter Hall student union (adjacent to the Biology Department). Food and adult beverages will be available for purchase.

So if you're a bird researcher, student, educator, birder, or bird enthusiast, this conference will appeal to you.

Registration opens on August 1st, but you can view the registration website now: http://ohiobirdresearch.eventbrite.com/

*We're seeking individuals who would like to live blog, live tweet, or use other forms of social media to cover the conference as it happens. If you'll be attending the conference and are a social media guru, please contact me (see below).

I hope you'll consider attending this event for a fun and informative day. I look forward to seeing you there!

Thanks,
