I worked around local rainstorms to visit the lower areas of Alum Creek Lake and Hoover Reservoir, visiting the beach and Visitor's Center and New Galena in the morning at ACL, and visiting the areas around Hoover Dam in the afternoon. The squalls did not blow in any obvious strays or rarities, but the early stages of migration are already apparent at both. Notables included:

Cormorants - 2-3 in the lower reservoirs at both sites
Great Blue Herons - high water forced herons into the spillways at both sites, with 4 at each location
Shorebirds - despite the high water, the ACL beach held 12 Kildeer, 1 Spotted Spr., 2 Semipalmated Spr., and 1 Least Spr.
Gulls - the ACL beach flock was 180 Ring-bills and 3 Herring. Lower Hoover only had 5-10 Ring-billed

Flycatchers - 3 Willows were still calling around the scrublands of the ACL Visitors Center. Wood Pewees & Great Cresteds were at many locations. 4 E.Kingbirds were foraging around New Galena; another 3 were around the ACL beach area.

Swallows - only a handful of Cliffs were left around the colonies at each dam. Small family groups of Barns were flying around both the ACL beach and Hoover dam. The former site also had 3 Purple Martins.

Vireos - 2 Red-eyed were still singing in the woods north of the ACL Visitors Center, while Warbling were singing at New Galena Boat Launch and below Hoover Dam

Thrushes - a pair of Wood Thrushes were feeding a Cowbird in the woods north of the ACL Visitors Center; another was calling at the New Galena Boat launch

Warblers - 2 Yellows were still singing on territory in the scrublands by the ACL Visitors Center; a Yellow-throated was singing at the New Galena boat launch. Basically a low-warbler day.
