Greetings -
We departed Wildwood Park Marina at 8:30 a.m. today on Cleveland Metropark's first pelagic of the year. We had sensational and spectacular prolonged looks at an immature PARASITIC JAEGER in full aerial pursuit of gulls, resting on the water, and showing off hunting antics, at 3 miles offshore Euclid (Cuyahoga County). Photos to be posted on http://northnw.wordpress.com this evening. I uploaded a photo to the facebook pages "Birding Ohio" and "Lake Erie Birding."
A single RED-NECKED PHALAROPE flew by the boat at 2 miles offshore, and 12 Common Mergansers were viewed well near-shore as they foraged in the water, then sat on the beach for great views.
it was awesome. jb
