I did a quick visit to the southern end of Alum Creek Lake this morning, just before the weather turned nasty.  I stopped at the beach & Visitor's Center and New Galena boat launch before the rain became a nuisance.  Not much in the way of shorebird or landbird migrants.  Notables included:

Cormorants - a flock of 20 were in the reservoir just off the dam
Common Loon - the basic-plumaged bird continues to haunt the deep water between the dam and the beach
Shorebirds - the beach held 8-10 Kildeer, 1 Semipalmated Plover, and 2 Spotted Sandpipers
Gulls - the flock at the beach was 240 Ring-bills and 2 Herring.  150 more Ring-bills were around Heritage Park 3 miles further south
Caspian Terns - an adult and juvenile were among the gull throng at the beach
E.Kingbirds - still a few at both the Visitor's Center area and the New Galena boat launch
Swallows - not much in the drizzle, but did have some Barns and Rough-wings
Vireos - 1 Red-eyed was near the Visitor Center, while a White-eyed was singing at New Galena
Mimids - good #s of Catbirds were joined by Mockingbirds at both the Beach and New Galena, and a Thrasher at New Galena
Warblers - nothing but 2 Yellows at New Galena
