This report from the field is from Bill Kinkead and Jason Simonis. They left the area about 11:30.

At Riddle Rd. they had between 75-100 birds mostly back along the edge. The majority of the birds were yellowlegs and peeps. They had 2 Wilson's Phalaropes and one Wilson's Phalarope. A Black Tern made a short stay over the pond. The swallows chased it away.

They also birded the lake going over T178 just west of T81. The only bird of note here was one Red-necked Phalarope. WARNING: While they were there the farmer who owns the land came to talk with them and he was VERY angry. He didn't want anyone walking on his land! He has lost a lot of crop due to all the water. I don't think any birder would be out there walking in that muck and mud. And, it is a public road. But, Bill just wanted folks to know of the encounter and consider that in making your decision about going there. They did not see anything along 178 that they did not see at the Riddle Rd. location.

Good Shorebirding!
