Hello birders,
     Buff-breasted sandpipers will be coming ( here now ? ) to a
mudflat/short grass area near you soon. According to current ebird records,
birders in southeastern Wisconsin & the Chicago area are seeing "buffies".
Best habitat for buff-breasted sandpipers is short grass areas,
including soccer fields, airports, golf courses, recently harvested
agricultural fields and sod farms. A few autumns ago a few buff-breasteds
were found east of Perrysville (Ashland Co.), Ohio at a recent
green-chopped corn field.
More on sod farms in next week's posting.
     Good birding,
     John Herman
