Upon our arrival at The Wilderness Road site at 4:45Pm today, Friday, we immediately located the previously reported Hudsonian Godwit in the last pool on the left at the end of the graded road. A Red-necked Phalarope was nearby in the water. A good variety of shorebirds remain at this location. Take the first access to the right, west of the little bridge. It is presently 5:40PM, the two celebrity visitors are still actively feeding. During our visit there have been no other birders present! Where are they? On a negative note, during our visit, a hunter shot 5 Canada Geese in the long large pool directly adjacent, and to the east of the Hudsonian Godwit. Pretty scary. The gunshots did spook the shorebirds each time.
