I looked at the radar early this morning and thought that it didn't look favorable for migration, but when I went out at sunrise the first warbler I saw was a male GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLER, my first good looks at a Golden-winged in over a decade, the first one for our property list (now up to about 143), and only the second in eBird for Union County (one wonders what percentage of any species that passes through a county or state actually makes it into eBird; it would vary by species of course, but it must be much much much less than 1% for most species). I only had about half an hour to look for birds unfortunately, there were a lot more around than I was able to find in such a short time, but I did also see Blackburnian, Bay-breasted, Magnolia, Tennessee, and a Warbling Vireo. If only this job didn't require my presence when there were good birds around...
