With a free morning, I visited these two sites along the Alum Creek corridor looking for migrants. I started at New Galena boat launch area at Alum Creek Lake, then moved over to the beach & Visitor's Center area, finishing around Shrock Lake and the nearby fields and forest in Sharon Woods (about 5 miles south of ACL). Migrants were sporadic, except for Blue Jays and Robins, which were fairly continuous. Temperate, short-distance migrants are starting to appear in greater numbers.  Notables included:

Cormorants - a flock of 16 reached the lower part of Alum Creek Lake
Waterfowl - little yet other than the expected Canada Geese and Mallards. A Wood Duck was on Shrock Lake
Osprey - 2 were soaring high over the south end of Alum Creek lake, perhaps getting ready to head south.
Turkey Vultures - small #s at many spots, with 12 at the Alum Creek Lake dam the high number
Gulls - the flock at the ACL beach stood at 560 Ring-bills and 4 Herring
Flickers - good #s, with 5-6 at each stop.  I even had a scattering of flicker feathers along the Thomas Trail, where an accipiter had undoubtedly caught and plucked one.

Flycatchers - little other than E.Phoebes at the beach of ACL and at Sharon Woods
Swallows,Swifts - none
BlueJays - over 50 for the morning, with small flocks at many places.  New Galena had 18 in 1 hour.
Vireos - 1 White-eyed was still calling at New Galena, while Red-eyed were at the Visitor's Center area and SharonWoods
BrownCreeper - my FOS migrant was along the Thomas Trail at Sharon Woods
Ruby-cr.Kinglets - singles were at New Galena and Sharon Woods
Thrushes - good mix at New Galena, with 1 Wood, 1 Gray-Cheeked, 3 Swainsons', and 1 Hermit.
Mimids - Catbirds common around both New Galena and the Visitor's Center areas, while 2 Mockingbirds and 2 Thrashers were in the scrub near Visitor's Center

CedarWaxwings - down in numbers, with only perhaps 10 the entire morning
HornedLarks - 2 were at the beach area, the vanguard of more in the next 2 months
Warblers - 8 species, including Magnolia, CapeMay (5),  Black-thr.Green (4), Blackburnian, Blackpoll(4), Bay-breasted, Amer.Redstart (5), ComYellowthroat (2).  Most were at New Galena.

Buntings,Grosbeaks - 1 Indigo called at the Visitor's Center, while a Rose-br.Grosbeak was a fly-by at New Galena
Sparrows - small flocks of Chipping and Fields at New Galena and the Visitor's Center fields.  Sharon Woods meadows had those, as well as 1 Swamp Sparrow

Blackbirds - first push, with a few Redwings, 1 Cowbird, and 120+ Grackles at AlumCreekLake, mostly at the Visitor's Center area
