Yesterday on the far side of little lake near where I live in Lawrence
County there was a small flock on visiting ducks. The light was mixed but
they looked mottled whitish-grey and had a blue patch on wings. There was a
line through eye of some. Really the only thing close in my book was
Blue-winged teal BUT I didn't see a real crescent moon shape by the eye.
Was this just a flock of females or do males lose all that in the fall or
could it possibly be something totally different? A long shot for a
Gadwall. I still think teal, but thanks for any help.
