I checked out the Deer Creek Wildlife Area this morning (Pickaway, Fayette Counties).

The only shorebird habitat in the area is in the middle of the three wetland areas where the pond water levels are dropping and there is some edge habitat and shallow areas. In addition to 250+ Killdeers, also present in smaller numbers were Semipalmated Plovers, both yellowlegs, and Stilt, Spotted, Pectoral, Least, and Semipalmated Sandpipers. That's pretty much just the basic stuff, but the habitat is there any anything could potentially show up.

In the wetlands there doesn't seem to be any notable movement of sparrows yet. Savannah Sparrows, which can be abundant by the end of Sept., haven't yet put in an appearance. I did see my first Swamp and Lincoln's Sparrows of the fall there today, but only one of each. There were several small but conspicuous flocks of Bobolinks in the area and both Soras and Virginia Rails were being vocal throughout the southern wetlands. Also present in small numbers still are lingering Sedge and Marsh Wrens and Henslow's Sparrows.

Of course there are plenty of widely scattered migrant warblers, vireos, thrushes, flycatchers etc. in the area. The biggest concentrations today seemed to be in the wooded thickets by the south end of the reservoir.
