The 16th September monthly survey was conducted yesterday by Paula
Bartlett, Tom Behlen, Pat Hayes, a gentleman named John ??? (from the
Warren area but can't remember his last name; hopefully he reads this
and sends me an email), and myself. The weather was beautiful but it
was the 4th day of south winds so migrants were few and far between.
We managed 58 species and 3389 individuals. The September 16 year
average is 72 species and 4933 individuals. Highlights included an
Egyptian Goose (escape), Wood Duck, American Golden-Plover, Merlin,
Philadelphia Vireo, and 11 species of warbler. The goose has been
here for about a week and is with a flock of Canada Geese on the SW
side of the island. The plover is in the mowed field east of the
ferry dock.
