Was pleasantly awakened by whippoorwills for the past two days while camping the back loop at Lake Hope State Park (camp site 109). They sang at the first hint of light, then were silent the rest of the day and night. They were quickly replaced by a chorus of yellow billed cuckoo calls that lasted intermittently until almost noon. Surprised that I didn't hear any migrating warblers (must still be feasting around columbus and Lake Erie). Wood thrush, pewees, and phoebes were still around, although sadly the wood thrush were only 'pit pit pitting' and no longer singing. Heard lots of campers making poor attempts at owl calls, but no legitimate responses.

Cheers,
Heather
