I birded at Conneaut harbor from 6:40 AM - 1:50 PM today.  As usual, there was a nice assortment of birds found.  There were 10 species of shorebirds: 7 semipalmated plovers, 6 killdeer, 1 willet (right leg badly injured), 2 lesser yellowlegs, ruddy turnstone, 4 sanderlings, semipalmated sandpiper, least sandpiper, 3 Baird's sandpipers, and a pectoral sandpiper.  Other birds included 3 blue-winged teal, 1 green-winged teal, 6 common mergansers, numerous double-crested cormorants, osprey, bald eagle, merlin, 3 Bonaparte's gulls (one a rather striking juv.), 1 great black-backed gull, 6 Caspian terns, belted kingfisher, and barn swallow.  There was minimal disturbance on the spit all morning, but dogs and people arrived in the afternoon and sent me on my way.  Craig Holt, Lowellville
