I observed about a dozen male red-winged blackbirds as they nestled down into the cattails next to my boyfriend's pond as the sunset last night.  The males were actively calling.  I thought this was a bit late for them.

Fyi - West Mansfield is east of Bellefontaine (not west of Mansfield).
