Upon our arrival at 7:30AM, at "The Conneaut Sandspit", we were immediately thrilled to see the Black-headed Gull that has been around for a while. No sign of the Hudsonian Godwit and its companion, the Long-billed Dowitcher. They had been here for a full week. A nice variety of shorebirds are present including Semipalmated Plovers, Sanderlings, Least Sandpipers, and Pectoral Sandpipers. A Peregrine Falcon has been terrorizing. 14 Bald Eagles are also making the rounds. Over in "The Lagoon" were 2 Black-crowned Night-Herons along with a nice variety of waterfowl. It is presently 9:30AM, we have recorded 34 species of birds. We have had "The Sandspit" all to ourselves. Nice and peaceful.

Bob and Denise Lane / Mahoning County
