Absolutely breathtaking numbers of sparrows in the parking lot area and the middle tall grass field at Dike 14/ClevelandLakefront Nature Preserve. Dark-eyed Junco (1,100), White-throated Sparrow (1,250), White-crowned Sparrow (350), Song Sparrow (550), Field Sparrow (110), Chipping Sparrow (160), Swamp Sparrow (210), Vesper Sparrow (8), Nelson's Sparrow (1 in tall grass field), Marsh Wren (6), Hermit Thrush (50), Eastern Phoebe (14), many kinglets of both species, multiple Winter Wrens and Brown Creepers, a few Yellow-rumps and 1 Nashville, 2 Eastern Meadowlarks, 55 Northern Flickers, and a Merlin point-blank by the ranger station
