Another great day. Highlight was 22 species of waterfowl. The cold weather
last night definitely sent a lot of birds south. Best bird was a young male
harlequin duck. It flew west, circled back and a few minutes later headed
west again. There were quite a few scoters and 6 long-tailed ducks.
It was a great movement of gulls also. There were a lot more Bonaparte's
gulls moving today. I was able to pick out one adult little gull. There
was a constant flow of gulls overhead with ring-billed gulls making up most
of the birds. I also had three species of grebes including single
red-necked and pied-billed. Pied-billed grebe is actually harder for me to
get on the open lake than red-necked grebe.
