With the blustery weather making landbirding challenging, I did a circuit of southern Franklin County quarries, hoping for blown-in waterfowl strays. I started at the Alum Creek Drive quarries, then moved down to the Lockbourne & Parsons Rd quarries, before swinging back north of US 23 to the Haul Rd ponds, finishing up at Berliner Park & Scioto Audubon. Waterbirds were spotty, with the Haul Rd quarries having the only interesting ducks. Notables included:

Dabbling Ducks - hardly any, with a small scattering of Mallards and Black Ducks, mostly in the southern quarries
Diving Ducks - Haul Rd quarries had 12 Bufflehead and 4 Ruddy Ducks
Other waterfowl - a Pied-billed Grebe & 3 cormorants remained in the Scioto river bay at Scioto Audubon
Herons - 5 Black-cr.Night Herons were roosting on the peninsula at Scioto Audubon; another 2 were up at Confluence Park
Gulls - notable for their absence, I had only 4 Ring-bills all day
Kestrels - singles were at Parson's Rd quarry and Scioto Audubon.
Woodpeckers - a Pileated calling at Lockbourne park was well south of large forest blocks here
Brown Creepers - 4-5 were in the riparian forest at Berliner Park
Kinglets - good day for Golden-crowns despite the wind & rain, they were in many riverside trees, tops being 8 at Berliner
Robins - small flocks all along the rivers, wherever honeysuckle berries were thick
Cedar Waxwings - small flocks at many locations, high being 25 at Scioto Ridge Park
Sparrows - difficult to find in the wind, but had Songs & White-throated in many spots
Blackbirds - flocks of grackles and Redwings were around Lockbourne and the Parsons Rd quarries, but not further north
