Heads up to anyone birding Headlands and areas west of me. I just had
(8:30) an alcid fly by heading west. I was able to follow it in the scope
and get a pretty good look at the bird. The chunky body shape, short
neck, black head, white running up the sides of the neck, white belly, and
dark gray wings and back all look good for ANCIENT MURRELET. The bird was
flying west by itself not far off shore. The bird was observed from my
house in North Perry, Lake County.
