It had to be a bird of some sort. Last evening around 7:00 PM, an hour and
a half after sunset, I was taking the trash out. The sky was clear, with
Venus shining brightly in the west. It "winked," which completely startled
me, since Venus doesn't do this. It was very brief, fractions of a second,
but the effect was vivid, since the planet was so bright.

There were airplanes visible or audible, and I can think of nothing other
than a bird that could have done this. No bats when it is 22 degrees.

I have read recently of flights of sandhill cranes and tundra swans, but I
heard othing audible.

I am completely open to suggestions as to what this may have been at that
hour...
