A late-afternoon Merlin was spotted today in the newest Cleveland MetroPark
- Acacia Reservation. Habitat is quite similar to the nearby Highland Park
Cemetery where Merlins annually winter; as well as the east end of
Cleveland's Calvary Cemetery - long a Merlin hotspot. So perhaps one or
more will winter here too.

We also found an immature Red-shouldered Hawk - not a common species in the
East Side's inner-ring suburbs. We suspect this species nests in the north
end of the park which has a modest-sized wetlands area.

And - the Ovenbird continues in our South Euclid yard for the 4th
consecutive day.
