Out in my backyard at 7 am this morning, counting the robins lifting off from their
evening roosting areas (they come in every evening, 400 to 700 birds)
I saw a hawk land on the snag. Even at that distance the distinct,
large white tail patch of a rough legged hawk was visible.

I watched till it lifted off again, about twenty minute, and although it flew
away from me, I could still see the dark patches on the wings and belly.

I see them here occasionally, near Frohring Meadows, but normally I have to
trek out to Middlefield and Hayes Road for reliable sightings.
