I was using eBird's Explore Data - Range and Point Maps to search for recent Screech Owl
sightings. I found two reports by local birders that were probably just data entry
mistakes. I entered a message on eBird's "Contact Us" page to try to get the reports
corrected; but, I have not heard back from them. For security/privacy reasons there is no
way to contact other eBird members. I was hoping that someone on this forum could contact
the two birders who made the posts.

In the Range and Point Maps if you search for:

Eastern Screech Owl
for the
Current Year
for
Independence, Ohio

...you will see an orange marker just to the west of Elmwood Park in Indpendence, Ohio.
If you click on the marker the title on the small popup window will show:

"cvnp-ira trailhead"

This is not correct. For those familiar with the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, you know
that the Ira Trailhead is farther to the south and in the Valley.

The two birders listed are Laura Pearce and Sandra Griffiths.
The report date is November 11, 2013.

Can someone contact these two birders and alert them to this entry?

I am sure that these were just data entry errors for the red phase screech owl that is
currently near the Beaver Marsh in the Cuyahoga Valley. Sandra made another report about
the reddish owl in a reported dated November 6, 2013.

Thanks.

Ken
