It was a winter wonderland out there today for the final bird count of the year for Magee Marsh, and my final official bird count. Thanks to Shane Roberts for helping with the count today. We tromped through about a foot of snow on the boardwalk. The lake here is frozen as far as the eye can see.
It has been my pleasure to bring you these and other bird reports over the years. My last day here will be December 30th. Thanks for all of your great feedback.
Here are the species seen or heard today at Magee Marsh:

Canada Geese, Bald Eagle, N. Harrier, Ring-billed gull, Mourning Dove, E. Screech Owl, Downy Woodpecker, Blue Jay, Black-capped Chickadee, White-breasted Nuthatch, Carolina Wren, American Robin, Cedar Waxwing, E. Starling, Red-winged Blackbird, Rusty Blackbird, Brown-headed Cowbird, N. Cardinal, Dark-eyed Junco, Am. Tree Sparrow, Song Sparrow, Snow Bunting, House Finch, American Goldfinch and House Sparrow.

Happy New Year Everyone and Happy Birding!
