Rich Kassouf was kind enough to help me and Dick Hoopes claim our first La
Conte's Sparrow today at Dike 14 (Cleveland Lakefront Nature Preserve).
Here are a few pics along with two shots of a Nelson's for comparison (last

the Nelson's because someone asked how to tell the difference.



We all owe a large THANK YOU to whomever decided to plant that nice grass!
It was chock-full of sparrows this morning.  We saw the La Conte's, Field,
Tree, White-throated, White-crowned, House and Song Sparrow as well as Junco
in that little field.
