Hi all,

I received an interesting email from Fred Rau this afternoon, who owns land in Pike County, not far to the east of Adams County. He has had a trail cam pointed at a deer carcass, and when he retrieved and downloaded the images yesterday, there were photos of a Golden Eagle feeding at the carcass!

The bird was seen an a relatively inaccessible area on private property, but State Rte. 32 and State Rte. 124 bookend the site on the south and north, respectively. Anyone in the area would want to keep their eyes peeled for exceptionally large raptors. Given the date, there’s certainly a chance that the eagle is overwintering locally.

Fred was kind enough to allow me to share his photos, and I have posted those and a map of the area at my blog: http://jimmccormac.blogspot.com/
