Today was a joint field trip between the new chapter of NE Ohio young birders, Kirtland Bird Club and Western Cuyahoga Audubon. East 72nd was void of the kittiwake, but two Long-tailed Ducks were great. Gulling at Wendy Park, by the mouth of the river offered a 3rd year Glaucous Gull, a first year and an adult Iceland Gull, and a 3rd year Lesser Black-back. A Long-tailed Duck was present.
White-winged Scoters (up to 12) continue offshore Perkin's beach (upper Edgewater), along with a fantastic number of Canvasback, Redhead, goldeneye, and scaup.
All reports of the Cleveland Lakefront nature preserve Le Conte's Sparrow have been negative this week.
Snowy Owls have vacated CLE lakefront for the most part. Hopkins airport is the most reliable.
