Julie Karlson, Larry Jeanblanc, and I birded in Clark County this morning.
On Neer Road just west of Mahar Road we found a Ross's Goose with some
Canada Geese at a small pond.
Later we were driving on Runyan Road and spotted a hawk. It was facing us
and the breast was completely white. We got out the scope to get a closer
look and saw that the entire head was white and the feet and legs were
yellow. The hawk turned around and the entire back was also white. A few of
the center tail feathers were the normal rusty red of a Red-tailed Hawk.
Another Red-tailed Hawk flew in and landed near the white bird. It was a
very striking bird.
Both of these roads are northeast of Buck Creek State Park in Clark County.
