I've decided to do a Big Year for Union County in 2014. Today I visited the reservoir on Raymond Road just north of Marysville and found a nice collection of waterfowl in the small areas that aren't frozen over yet. Highlights were Snow Goose, Cackling Goose, all 3 mergansers, Greater and Lesser Scaup, Canvasback, Redhead, Common Goldeneye, and other waterfowl. I'll post occasional updates and rarity reports for Union County birding this year, my goal (perhaps unreasonable) is 200 species. Please let me know if you hear of any white owls in Union County...
