For Stark County birders, I wanted to follow up on Jon Cefus's post a few days ago about trying to
locate owls in Stark County. Tonight around 6:00 I was driving down Rt. 43 in Lake Township and
had an owl fly across the road in front of me. I was just north of where Mt. Pleasant intersects with
43, and the owl flew into the large field adjacent to the Rt. 43 Antique Mall. I didn't have binoculars
with me, but if I had to guess an ID, I thought it looked like a Short-eared. However, I'm far from
certain about that. I just thought I'd mention it in case anyone is in the area and wants to take a
look. I'm hoping to be able to check the field around dusk the next couple of days to see if I can
find it again.
