My job takes me to North Dakota almost every summer. I'm out
Hi Marie,

My job takes me to North Dakota almost every summer. I'm outdoors both professionally and while birding, and I've never found ticks to be a particular problem. I've certainly had worse experiences in Ohio.

You should be aware that the oil boom has created a shortage of hotel rooms in the western part of the state. If you plan to travel there, you should make reservations in advance and don't expect to find any bargain rates.

Nonetheless, North Dakota is surprisingly beautiful and a great place to bird. You should have a great time.

Cheers,
Paul

Subject: [Ohio-birds] RFI re North Dakota birding

There is a bird festival in ND in the summer sometime.  I lived in NE
for a couple of years and found it sort of....ticky, as in ticks <shudder>.
All I've heard is that ND is probably even worse.  One pilot I knew who
had been stationed there said the number of ticks was incredible.
Anyone who has ever been birding there and willing to share their
experiences, tick or otherwise, please email direct.

Thank you,

Marie, Fairborn OH
