I stopped by several spots along the Columbus Riverfront this evening in search of the LesserBlack-backed & Iceland Gulls, but with no success for either. I started at the Broad St. Bridge area at 3:30, then went down to the Scioto Audubon boat launch, then returned to the Broad St. Bridge. I met a pair of Dayton birders who had been looking for most of the afternoon, with no better success than I. As Andy's post shows, the Iceland is still around, and the LBB Gull was seen at the boat launch earlier in the day, but these birds are not sitting still. There were good numbers of Herring Gulls - 80+ at the boat ramp and 140+ around the Broad St. area -, but gull numbers were down considerably today compared to the past 4 days, suggesting that the birds are finding other spots to eat & loaf. Locating these birds may become much more of a challenge over the next few days. If anybody notices other large flocks of gulls in nearby area - perhaps along the Olentangy in OSU, or at Confluence Park - they might want to give them extra scrutiny.
