Fellow tired of winter birders,

When my dogs forced me out for a walk tonight (they feel entitled,
regardless of the weather), I heard a pair of Great horned owls dueting in
our woods. They started at 6:20 or perhaps sooner, and continued for about
15 minutes. They were near the same place where they(?) nested two years
ago and successfully fledged two young. When I heard them two years ago, we
hoped they would nest there, and they did. Needless to say, we have the
same high hopes again this year. The nest is still intact, and I even have
a new lens (500mm vs 300mm). I should probably not get so excited over a
few owl hoots, but it has been a long winter, and good birding news has
been scarce.
Needless to say, I will keep you posted.
