Just a quick update from Avon.  With ice cover extending as far as the eye can see, Avon is really hopping these days.  I'd say there were 4X the gulls there today than had been last weekend.  Unfortunately my time was short and the wind was brutal.  In 30 min, I picked out seven Glaucous Gulls and a third-year"Kumlien's"  Iceland Gull.  


I'm leading a field trip for Kirtland Bird Club here Sat. at 9:00 AM, and things should continue to improve between now & then.
