Following Laura Dorman's post, this afternoon around 3 pm my wife and I went
to North Park Avenue just near the north west part of Mosquito lake and
found a Long-eared owl 0.3 mi. south of the Division of wildlife buildings,
hiding in the hedgerow which runs just east and parallel to North Park
Avenue. Apparently some overly anxious birders had walked too close to
where they were before (judging by footprints in the snow at the prior
location) and so this one moved, fortunately where it could be found again.
(we talked to Don Keffer about where the birds were before). So I would
repeat what Laura said in her original posting, don't try to get too close,
staying in on near the car in the road gives great views without overly
disturbing it.

Don suggested we go to the causeway over the Lake after that where there is
a little open water. There we found two mute swans, several redheads, a few
canvas backs, a few common goldeneyes, and lots of geese.
