While I realize that Bald Eagles have become so common in Ohio that I should be blasé about their sightings*, for at least the past two weeks Bald Eagles have been visiting the Scioto River in Dublin. (http://goo.gl/maps/kJiCu)

This morning I saw an adult roosting in a tree right next to the O'Shaughnessy dam, across from the zoo. I have seen an adult and a juvie roosting in trees along the Scioto at the Delaware/Franklin County line, usually in the evening. I have seen them flying quite low over the Scioto right below the SR 161 bridge (Kiwanis Park). I don't know how much further downstream they go.

While this section of the Scioto is quite wooded close to the river, there are suburban housing developments all along both sides of the river.

If you're in the area, keep an eye out. It's still pretty fun to see one.
