I spent part of the day at these 2 MetroParks south of Columbus looking to see if the overnight snow had concentrated any unusual landbirds at feeders. At 3-Creeks, I joined the throngs of the Winter Hike visitors, breaking off to check feeders at the Confluence area, the Borrow Pits, and Heron Pond, none of which had anything terribly unusual. Open water was scarce; one large open stretch of Big Walnut Creek at Elk Run Park had 300+ Canada Geese and about 30 Mallards. Best birds here included Brown Creepers at the Borrow Pits and at Elk Run, and Tree Sparrows at the Heron Pond feeders.

Blacklick Woods was more interesting, partly because of the masses of birds around the Nature Center feeders. Good finds there included:

Redhead - 1 gorgeous male in the small pond next to the Nature Center
Cooper's Hawks - in the park, 1 nabbed a sparrow at the Nature Center. I also saw 2 birds outside the park in the surrounding neighborhood
Barred Owl - at least one of the resident owls was visible along the Maple Loop trail
Red-headed Woodpecker - 1 adult persists along the east portion of the Buttonbush loop trail
Red-breasted Nuthatch - 1 was coming to the front feeders at the Nature Center
E.Towhees - at least 12 wwer in the park, with a startling 10 scattered between the Nature Center and its parking lot.
Tree Sparrows - at least 8 were hanging around the Nature Center feeders
