Ryan Golterman and I had good luck today, birding in parts of Mahoning, Trumbull, and Geauga Counties.  A male white-winged scoter was on the Mahoning R. in Struthers.  At the Mosquito L. causeway, the 6 long-tailed ducks were still present along with a good selection of other waterfowl.  In Mosquito WA, we saw 20 wild turkeys, a long-eared owl (N. Park Ave.), barred owl (Mahan-Denman Rd.), and northern shrike (Penniman Rd.).  In Middlefield Twp. we found a dark rough-legged hawk, n. mockingbird, 75 horned larks, 15 snow buntings, and 3 Lapland longspurs.  At the feeders at Swine Creek Reservation, there was a white-throated sparrow.  Craig Holt, Poland Twp.
