This was the happening place to be tonight about 8pm if you wanted to hear
Woodcock. There were 8 birders at the east end of the wetland. Everyone
got to hear them 'peenting' and some could actually make out birds ascent or
decent. Too dark for pictures but your ears got a workout trying to
identify how many you could hear. We (5 birders) distinctly heard 3 birds.
Perhaps the lack of clouds kept the birds down longer than I anticipated.
It was 8:10pm before we heard the first birds peenting. You could probably
find them all over the meadow.
Frohring Meadows is a Geauga Park District park located a few miles east of
Chagrin Falls on Savage Road.
