A little bit of water finally opened up at Sippo Lake near the dam and it produced a nice mix of waterfowl this morning. Present were lesser scaup, ring-necked ducks, gadwall, northern shovelers, hooded mergansers, redhead, tundra swan, mallard, Canada geese, American coot, and a pied-billed grebe.

There was also a flyby of a killdeer. Two turkey vulture circled the area riding the strong SW winds. I also saw one red-tailed hawk and a Cooper's hawk performing acrobatics in the wind that truly demonstrated the incredible flying skills these raptors possess.

That's the news from Sippo Lake.

Happy birding!
