Hi all,

This morning Bill Hull and I had a Ross's Goose on the lake in front of
Coney Island Amusement Park along US 52 in Hamilton Co. It was apparently
last seen around 3:30 and took off to the west.

We also stopped at the south swimming beach at East Fork State Park where
we tallied 20 Red-necked Grebes. 9 birds were loosely associating together
a couple hundred yards to the west of the beach, and the remaining 11 were
seen in groups of 1-4 due north of the beach several hundred yards out. If
a light breeze hadn't picked up and cleared out the heat distortion, we
probably would have missed the majority of the far group. 4 or 5 appeared
to be in full or nearly full breeding plumage.

Driving US 52 later in the afternoon, I had a flock of 67 White-winged
Scoters mixed with Scaup and 9 Long-tailed Ducks in Higginsport OH very
close to the Ohio shore. 61 WWSC and 16 LTDU were reported nearby to the
Kentucky Listserv by Brainard Palmer-Ball yesterday.

I also had 2 more Red-necked Grebes at the mouth of Straight Creek in Brown
Co.

Good Birding,

Brian Wulker
