I have been trying to learn how to tell Glaucous from Iceland gull. I would
appreciate comments as to what this bird is and which cycle. I have posted
5 photos on Flickr (all of same bird) and I think it is Iceland (kumlien's)
gull. I think it is second or first cycle.

Reasons for thinking Iceland's:

Obviously, white primaries. Bill seems to have more black in it relative to
all immature cycles of Glaucous. Bill also thinner than Glaucous. However,
there is a white tip to the gull. (Does this make it Glaucous? )

Overall bird may be slightly smaller bill to tail but also body seems less
bulky.

In one of the wing open views there seems to be some gray streaking like is
shown in Howell and Dunn's book.

Appriciate any/all comments.

Thanks,

Nelson Mostow
