Hi all,
Joe Hammond and I birded at Delaware Wildlife Area and Alum Creek and Hoover Reservoirs this afternoon. The overall numbers and species diversity of waterfowl, particularly diving ducks, was really impressive! Highlights included:

Delaware WA:
Panhandle road- Tons of ducks! Only out of the ordinary duck was a "white-cheeked" morph American Wigeon. This looks like a good spot to check for Eurasian Wigeon in the coming weeks.
Also, an Osprey was building a nest on the cell tower on Panhandle road

Alum Creek:

Red-necked Grebe- 2, 1 north and another south of Cheshire road bridge
Surf Scoters- 3 (2 breeding plumage males and one female) flying around and foraging north and east of the State Park Marina, scope required.
White-winged Scoter- 3 (2 juvenile-type and one adult female) near east shore opposite the marina.
Good numbers of ducks mostly just north of Cheshire road, particularly Common Loons and Horned Grebes. Flocks of ducks where dropping in by the hundreds while we were there.

Hoover:
5 long-tailed ducks (2 males and 3 females) just south of Sunbury road causeway/baldridge boat ramp.

Good birding!
Steve Landes
